Aquatic plant websites

**The Krib  is always a source for freshwater aquarium information, including a section about plants. Here are beginner FAQs with descriptions of common plants, and anecdotal stuff about people and tech and setups and fertilizer and pH.

**AquaBotanic is the second-largest site devoted to planted aquaria. Beginning in 1999 as a web source for *mail-order aquarium plants, Robert Hudson's site is a central starting-point for all kinds of information about planted aquaria. Robert Hudson maintains a blogspot at the site that archives versions of some of his articles on planted aquaria.

*The Aquatic Gardeners Association (AGA) is the main group focused on advanced water plant growing, which also appeals to the serious beginner. The AGA published a magazine, titled  The Aquatic Gardener of course, covering plants, substrate, nutrients, light, CO2.

*Aquatic-Plants Digest is the long-standing (since April 1995) mailing-list, intended as a medium for exchange of information about all aspects of growing aquatic plants as a hobby. You'll find masses of intelligent discussion, which you'll have to sift yourself, in the complete archives at The Krib. After you look through some of the posted threads, you may want to join the mailing list by sending an e-mail message "subscribe aquatic-plants" to majordomo@actwin.com

The Planted Tank hosts your images of your planted aquaria, offers a guide to planted tanks, and plant and fish species profiles.

*Karen Randall's "Aquatic Horticulture" series, archived in the huge library at  Reefs.org, were published in the late e-magazine Aquatic Frontiers. You'll find her extended discussions of each of the major plant genera, and other mainstream topics.

*Rhonda Wilson's  Natural Aquariums has articles and a forum, moderated by the author of  The Simple Guide to Planted Aquariums, who is a columnist for Tropical Fish Hobbyist.  Her emphasis on low-tech planted aquariums strikes a resonsive note in me, you may be sure. The plants are her only filter!

*Dave Gomberg edited and published eight issues of a quarterly Planted Aquaria, in 2000-2001. There weren't enough subscribers to sustain this quality venture: get the story
