Dissolved minerals. Besides gases, what else is actually dissolved in the aquarium water? Let's leave aside the particles that you can actually see, even though you might need a magnifying glass to do so. Most of those particulates are decaying organic material. Let's just consider materials dissolved in water or microscopically suspended. There are three categories: electrolytes, non-electrolytes and colloids.
